VR headsets to be tested on Jin Air route through May 31

Jin Air will rent virtual reality (VR) headsets to passengers for in-flight entertainment starting from late this month.

The low-cost carrier said Monday that the headsets will be made available during a test phase that runs from March 31 through May 31. More than 200 programs will be available, including documentaries and those covering sports events and musical performances.

Headsets will be offered to customers on board the LJ079 flight, which operates from Incheon to Da Nang, Vietnam. Reservations for the device started Monday.

For the test operation, Jin Air will select three to five customers per flight among those reserving the headsets and offer them the devices for free. The airline will start charging customers after the trial operation is completed.
