This is today's anchor briefing.

“It wasn’t because Jae-chun’s mom didn’t think it through or couldn’t think of a better name that she named her beachside clam barbeque restaurant “Jae-chun’s.”

- Poet Yoon Je-rim‘s

What caught the poet’s eye was his parents’ sincere intentions of proudly putting up their son’s name on the signboard of their restaurant. People who want to be called someone’s mother or father instead of their own name… That boy Jae-chun slowly became an adult, eating and going to school with the profits from the restaurant named after him.

“From all the things that you could get, it is weird that you want this.”

The father complained, but he did not seem displeased. The son asked for his father’s name because he wanted to use it for his acting career.

“Dad, can I use your name?”

[I know] it was out of the blue.

“You ask for the weirdest things. Sure.”

That is how I got to use it…

“Someday, I plan to give his name back in good shape.”

June 30, 2016 JTBC “Newsroom”

They too, would have had an awkward father-son relationship where they would look away from each other with nothing to say.

However, the father lent his name, which faces the world with his son’s dream to live proudly as an actor.

There are people who live by their family’s name, instead of their own. Within that name, there lies something stronger than a family’s livelihood and earnings. There is also something that comes naturally as people answer to that name.

On the contrary, doesn’t parting from someone mean calling a name without having anyone to answer back?

“My son, my daughter… let’s go home for a moment…”
- “Jun-hyung’s father” Jang Hoon’s commemorating speech

Families who have spent four years and 8 months, over 1,700 days on the streets, returned home at last. They have called their lost one’s names countless times in order to remember them and tried to pull them out of the abyss, into the open. Unfortunately, their lost ones, who are forever 17 years old, cannot answer their calls.

However, we already know. If those names are called within our minds and remembered, through those names, we can meet and part and be with them forever…

That is all for today’s anchor briefing.
