Samsung launches 2019 range of QLED TVs in Korea

Samsung Electronics said Monday it launched a full lineup of QLED TVs in the domestic market, which automatically upscale low-resolution images for better display.

QLED TVs are LED TVs that use quantum dots to enhance performance in key picture quality areas.

Samsung said its new lineup will have an image resolution four times more vivid than its 4K counterparts.

The 2019 QLED lineup will be composed of four 8K models, ranging from 65 inches to 98 inches and 14 kinds of 4K models, spanning from 49 inches to 92 inches. The 98-inch 8K-model will be launched in the first half.

An 82-inch 8K QLED TV costs 15.9 million won ($14,000) in the domestic market, and a 4K TV of the same size is priced at 11 million won, the company said.
