[Sponsored Report] Hankook Tire triumphs with cutting-edge tech
Hankook Tire has proven its global top-tier tire technology by supplying high-end tires - such as the Runflat tire and Sealguard tire - to global premium finished car brands.
The tire maker offers three generations of Runflat tires.
The Ventus S1 evo2 Runflat and Winter i*cept evo Runflat tires have greatly improved rotational resistance and fuel efficiency in BMW’s 7 Series. Hankook Tire also supplies Runflat tires to the Mercedes-Benz C-class plug-in hybrid, the C350e and the premium compact MINI brand, and has proven to be a preferred global partner of German premium car brands thanks to its standard and quality.
In addition, Hankook is recognized for the world-class quality and technology of its Ventus Prime2 Sealguard, a self-sealing tire that contains self-developed sealant material invented in Korea. The tires are used on Volkswagen’s best-selling multipurpose vehicle model, the Touran.
Hankook Tire’s self-sealing Sealguard tires contain a sealant material that seals a puncture up to 5 millimeters (0.2 inches) in diameter immediately. Hankook Tire not only developed Sealguard tires, which were the first in Korea to use self-developed sealant materials, but also the manufacturing and production technologies.
Runflat tires are tires that can travel at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour (49.7 miles per hour) even when the tire’s internal air pressure is zero. It has a solid sidewall structure to minimize shape change even when punctured.
The most advanced form of Runflat technology, the Hankook Tire 3rd generation Runflat tire, has greatly improved rolling resistance and fuel efficiency. It has been evaluated as feeling no different from ordinary tires in terms of ride quality and has created a new segment called ultra-high performance Runflat tires in the local market.
