About 20,000 foreign vehicles to be recalled

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said Thursday that about 20,000 imported cars and motorcycles will be placed under voluntary recall due to component defects, including faulty airbags.

The Ministry said 6,266 vehicles from Jaguar Land Rover Korea, including the Jaguar XE, were equipped with airbag modules that could hurt the driver when deployed. The automaker will exchange the modules from April 25.

The importer for vehicles made by luxury sports car brand Ferrari, Forza Motors Korea, will conduct recalls on 475 vehicles for airbag defects.

Toyota Korea started recalling 244 vehicles, including the Lexus LS500h all-wheel drive model, on Thursday due to a faulty assembly process that could lead to damaged tires.

Honda Korea has already started its recall of 10,800 PCX motorcycles from Wednesday due to defects in its lighting system.
