‘Avengers’ nears five million ticketsMarvel’s latest superhero blockbuster, “Avengers: Endgame,” is nearing the five-million viewer mark in Korean cinemas four days after hitting local screens, official data showed Sunday.
The film drew 1.48 million moviegoers on Saturday alone, increasing the total number to more than 4.7 million, according to the data from the Korean Film Council.
The number of local theaters screening the film rose to 2,832 this weekend from the 2,760 recorded when it was released Wednesday.
“Endgame,” the epic finale to the superhero studio’s decade-long series of films, attracted 1.34 million viewers on its release day, setting a new box-office record here.
The film depicts the battle between the Avengers’ surviving superheroes, who became Earth’s last hope after the end of “Avengers: Infinity War,” and villain Thanos.
