Entertainer Yoo Byung-jae and his manager Yu Gyu-seon will leave YG Entertainment in June, the agency confirmed on Tuesday.
On Tuesday morning, local newspaper Sports Seoul reported that Yu submitted a letter of resignation to the agency, while Yoo was planning on leaving the agency when his contract ends in June.
A few hours later, YG Entertainment confirmed the news, “YG and Yoo Byung-jae have come to an agreement to terminate his contract in June.”
“We thank the fans for supporting Yoo Byung-jae with YG, and we wish for the best in his coming days,” the agency said.
Yoo will not be stepping down from the TV shows he is appearing on. Both Yoo and his manager will still take part in MBC’s “Omniscient Interfering View,” a reality show that features stars and their managers.
Yoo joined YG Entertainment in 2015, after gaining popularity with his witty posts online and working as a writer and actor on tvN’s “SNL Korea.”
He has furthered his career with the help of his agency, appearing on various television shows and holding stand-up gigs.
Whether Yoo and his manager will join different agencies has not been confirmed.
