Ryu Hyun-jin gets another shot at a 10th win today

BASEBALL

Ryu Hyun-jin of the Los Angeles Dodgers will have another shot at picking up his 10th win of the season as he is scheduled to start in a game against the Colorado Rockies at Dodgers Stadium on Saturday, local time, or on Sunday, Korea time.

The game will start at 8:15 a.m., Korea time.

This will be Ryu’s third attempt at picking up his 10th win of the season. Originally, he was scheduled to start in the Dodgers’ first game against the Rockies but was given an additional day off.

Ryu has dominated this season, picking up nine wins and a loss with a 1.26 ERA. Having been named the player of the month for the month of May, Ryu’s month of June has been a different story.

He started with a win, but in the next two games, Ryu hasn’t had much luck as he walked away with no-decisions.

In Ryu’s last game, on June 16, the Korean starter gave up two runs, both unearned, over seven solid innings but was relieved at the start of the eighth with the score tied at 2-2. The Dodgers went on to win 3-2.

He struck out eight and didn’t walk anyone. The last time Ryu issued a free pass was on May 30 against the New York Mets. In 93 innings in 2019, Ryu has 85 strikeouts against only five walks.

Ryu’s only loss of the season came all the way back on April 20 against the Milwaukee Brewers. He had gone 7-0 with a 0.82 ERA over his next nine starts before this one.
