BTS breaks records in Japan

BTS topped Japan’s Oricon Chart with their 10th Japanese single “Lights/Boy With Luv,” Big Hit Entertainment announced on Thursday.

According to Oricon’s latest update on Wednesday, BTS placed No. 1 on Oricon’s daily chart with their single, which was released on July 3.

“Lights/Boy With Luv” also had the most preorder sales for any foreign artist in Japan, and also topped the performance of their previous release, “Fake Love/Airplane pt. 2.”

The number of preorders for “Lights/Boy With Luv” surpassed one million, an all-time high for any Korean artist in Japan. Preorders were made from May 10 to July 1 through BTS’s Japanese label Universal Music Japan.

“Lights/Boy With Luv” includes three tracks, including the new “Light,” a Japanese version of BTS’s latest hit “Boy With Luv” and the Japanese version of their 2018 hit “Idol.”

BTS will perform this weekend at Osaka, Japan’s Yanma Stadium Nagai and next weekend on July 13 and 14 at the Shizuoka Stadium Ecopa as a part of their “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” world tour.
