Employees at discount chain Emart’s branch in Dalseo-gu, Daejeon, give out onions for free on Thursday. The store gave away 300 1.5-kilogram (3.3-pound) packages. Fifteen Emart branches across Daegu and North Gyeongsang will hold promotional events to sell onions and garlic at low prices. Onion and garlic prices have been plummeting recently due to oversupply.
