Samsung Electronics to release film

Samsung Electronics is releasing a short film about a mysterious love between two people that comes true with the help of semi-conductor technology, the company announced on Tuesday.

The new 33-minute short sci-fi film, titled “Memories,” features actors Kim Moo-yul and An So-hee. Kim’s character searches for a mysterious woman that he sees in his dreams.

Hyun-oh (Kim) is gifted - and cursed - with the ability to remember every single detail of his dreams, as if they really happened. With the help of cutting-edge semi-conductor technology, Hyun-oh finds Joo-eun, ultimately conveying a hopeful ending that will come with the development of technology.

“Memories” has been co-produced by Cheil Worldwide and film production Eastgate Company. Auteur Kim Jong-gwan of the Netflix hit “Persona” took the helm.

The film is the third project in Samsung Electronics’ short film series.

In 2017, the company presented “Two Lights: Relumino,” a virtual reality (VR) application developed for those with damaged vision. Last year, it produced “My Dream Class,” to promote its educational “Samsung Dream Class” program.

It also created a four-part drama series in September last year, titled “Ambergris,” which took place in 2053.

The film will be officially released on Thursday, with a special screening session with the director and the two actors at the Lotte Cinema Konkuk University branch in eastern Seoul.
