Under the baton of Prof. Seo Eun-joo, the Capella choir will perform throughout the festival, according to the university, as a representative group from Asia.
The choir performed two solo concerts, at the Lalique Chapel on July 15 and at St. Peter’s Church on July 22, singing beautiful tunes from both Korea and abroad.
The Capella choir also took part in performing in the festival’s main concert to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day. The choir performed Beethoven’s “9th Symphony” at the Saint-Quentin Church on July 17 and the Cathedral of Notre-Dame on July 18, together with the Barony Choir from Ireland and the Regional University Choir of Caen Normandy accompanied by the Lipetsk Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Carlos Dourthe.
“As far as I know, the Seoul Theological University’s Capella choir has performed across Europe and wherever they went, the responses have been great,” said Prof. Hwang Duk-hyung, the university’s 19th president-elect who will be taking office in September.
“The Cote de Nacre Music Festival invites music institutions from different continents and because of the choir’s great reputation, [we were] invited to represent Asia.”
The festival ends on Wednesday.
