Seoul Marathon picks Chungha
The JTBC Seoul Marathon appointed singer Chungha the honorary ambassador for the annual event on Monday afternoon.The organizers launched the official website for the marathon on Monday with the singer’s image in the background. The event offers both a 10 kilometer (6.2 miles) run and a full marathon course. Runners can start applying for the race on Tuesday.
The event’s honorary ambassadors have included celebrities such as Soyou, Joon Park, rapper Sean, actor Im Soo-hyang, and more. About 20,000 runners participated in the 2018 marathon.
The theme for this year’s marathon is “festival,” reflecting a growing effort to attract runners of all ages and genders to participate. With the appointment of Chungha, who is known for her healthy image, the event hopes to appeal to a larger number of participants.
The marathon is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Nov. 3.
