‘Exit’ to premiere in 24 countries

Action-comedy film “Exit,” which is currently sitting atop the box office, will soon hit theaters around the world, according to the film distribution company CJ Entertainment.

The film had already sold distribution rights to 24 countries. After premiering in North America last Friday, it will be released in Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan by the end of August.

“‘Exit’ sparked interest from foreign buyers because it’s different from most of other comedy action films,” said Choi Yoon-hee, the director of the company’s film business division.

“Although it will resonate with international audiences because of its themes of familial love, they also seem to be highly amused by the characters’ comical but thrilling moments to escape the apocalypse, which led to the popularity of the film regardless of nationalities and languages.”

Meanwhile the film had sold over 3.7 million tickets as of Tuesday, according to the Korean Film Council. Revolving around two youngsters’ attempts to survive in the midst of a catastrophe, it stars actors Cho Jung-seok and Lim Yoon-a.
