Despite the heavy rain on the final day, Hur made six birdies and a bogey to shoot five under par, 66, to finish the tournament four shots ahead of the runners-up, Lee Jeong-eun of Korea and Moriya Jutanugarn of Thailand.

Hur got off to a slow start by making a bogey on the par-3 third, but a birdie on the par-3 ninth allowed her to finish the first half of the round at even par.

In the second half, Hur made quite a comeback. She started the second half of the round with three straight birdies.

Then, by adding two more on the par-5 16th and the par-4 18th, Hur picked up her first win since the 2014 season.

Hur finished the tournament at 20 under par, 264, good enough to set the new 72-hole tournament record.

“My goal for the day was just to enjoy my golf and stay dry from the rain and just keep focused on my game,” Hur was quoted as saying on the LPGA website. “That was working really well today and it bring me a good result.”

Hur also didn’t forget to thank her caddie, who supported her throughout all four rounds.

“He said on the first round, starting on No. 1, I made a birdie and made two bogeys after one birdie, and I was mad,” Hur was quoted as saying. “And he told me on the 4th tee box, ‘Come on, MJ, you can win this tournament.’ And then he said that today, as well on the 4th, because I made a bogey on the third. I had a three putt. It helped me a lot to calm down and he talked about the wind and rain stuff.”

With the win, Hur picked up her third victory on the LPGA Tour and took home the prize money of $225,000.

Hur joined the LPGA Tour in 2009 and picked up her first win in her rookie season at the Safeway Classic. Following that first win, it took until September 2014 for Hur to pick up her second win, at Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic.

Having once again spent the next four seasons without a win, this year, Hur finally picked up her third. Before Sunday’s win, Hur’s best finish this season was tied for sixth at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G in June.

The 2017 champion Lee Mi-hyang was the only other Korean to finish in the top 10, coming in at fourth with 15 under par, 269.

After a week off, the LPGA Tour will continue its season at the CP Women’s Open at Magna Golf Club in Canada, starting from Aug. 22 to 25.
