Hyundai Mobis to supply high-end sensors to HyundaiHyundai Mobis announced Tuesday that it will supply its self-developed mid-range front radar and front camera sensors to Hyundai Motor.
The carmaker will apply the sensors to its commercial vehicles. Mobis said in a statement that it is the first time such high-end sensors are being applied to locally manufactured commercial vehicles.
The two sensors will work together to offer forward collision-avoidance assist features on commercial vehicles, the auto parts maker said.
The radar and sensor will help the car calculate the optimal distance from cars driving in front and help the vehicle slowdown automatically to avoid collisions.
The sensors will be mass-produced and supplied from next month.
The carmaker said it will target overseas markets as well with its self-developed sensors. Lee Sung-hoon, head of parts sales division at Hyundai Mobis, said the company’s strategy is to offer quality products at affordable prices.
