YouTube kicks off gamer contestYouTube has started receiving applicants for the “YouTube NextUp Korea Gamers Seoul” contest to support young YouTubers and their channels, organizers revealed on Wednesday.
In order to participate in the contest, applicants must fit into three criteria: They must have more than 1,000 but less than 100,000 subscribers, have never received a warning for violating YouTube policies and should have uploaded more than three videos to their channel during the last 90 days.
“We are happy to support local creators with original ideas and contents for the first time,” Kwon Kyu-won, the manager of the contest, said. “We hope the contest becomes a stepping stone for gamers passionate about further developing their channel.”
Twelve YouTubers will be selected in total, and each will be given 2 million won along with multiple opportunities to expand their contents, such as VIP tickets to attend the G-Star Global Game Exhibition in Busan, planned to be held in November.
The deadline for the application is on Sept. 15.
