From front row, third from left; Yonsei University’s Institute of East and West Studies Director Pak Yong-suhk, Indian ambassador to Korea Sriya Ranganathan and Korean ambassador to the United Nations Cho Hyun pose after the 5th Institute of East and West Studies (IEWS) - Observer Research Foundation (ORF) Dialogue held Thursday at Yonsei University’s Iris Hall of the Sangnam Institute of Management Center in western Seoul.

IEWS is a research body under Yonsei and ORF is an independent think tank in India with centers in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.

This year’s seminar theme was “The Converging Interests of South Korea and India,” for which Cho and Ranganathan made keynote speeches. Four sessions were held on policies, maritime security, cooperation in technology and energy, and public diplomacy between the two countries - during which participants discussed ways for Korea and India to develop strategic partnerships.

The Thursday dialogue was a follow-up event to “Towards Building a More Robust India-Korea Partnership” that took place in New Delhi in July 2019. It was sponsored by the Korea Foundation. [INSTITUTE OF EAST AND WEST STUDIES]
