Members of a civic association consisting of North Korean defectors and local civic organizations are staging a demonstration at Gwanghwamun Square in central Seoul on Friday to demand the government heed their requests for equal treatment of defectors after Han Sung-ok, a 42-year-old defector, and her six-year-old son were found dead in their apartment in July, suspected to have starved to death. The association is demanding an official apology from the unification minister and legislative measures to prevent other defectors from being overlooked. [YONHAP]
