Amid ongoing police investigations into its latest K-pop audition program “Produce X 101,” cable channel Mnet announced on Monday that it will be launching another audition program targeted to teenage trainees - this time a vocal audition.
The channel announced on Monday that it will be accepting applications until Nov. 24 for a show titled “Teen Singer,” set to air early next year.
“Teenagers will sing and teenagers will get to vote for the next generation of singers,” the channel said in a statement.
“It will be a chance for passionate teenagers to express themselves, show adults what they think and share it with other teenagers.”
While it remains to be seen how audiences will react to the show after the fabrication accusations made against “Produce X 101” remain under investigation, the channel vows that this will be a show “just for teens,” and even the judging panel will be comprised of teen singers.
Details are available on Mnet’s website and applications can be sent to [email protected]
