Standard Chartered Bank Korea’s New Time Card is proving popular thanks to the wide range of discounts it offers.

One of the most popular features of the New Time Card is the timed discounts, which offer specific discounts in specific places at the times when they are perhaps most needed.

For example, from 7 to 9 a.m., the card offers a 5 percent discount at convenience stores and bakeries, while from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., it offers a 5 percent discount at restaurants and cafes. In the evening, the card offers a 5 percent discount at restaurants and drugstores from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on food delivery apps and for internet shopping from 10 p.m. to midnight.

During the weekends and on holidays, there is a 60 won per liter (19 cents per gallon) discount at S-Oil and a 5 percent discount for Emart, Homeplus and Lotte Mart’s offline stores. There is also a 5 percent discount on public transportation, mobile phone bills and foreign usage every day.

The discount rate for the card is based on spending of the previous month.

“The New Time Card tries to portray the spending habits and needs of users and focuses more on providing discount offers at partnering shops than to provide high discount rates,” said an official from Standard Chartered Bank Korea.

“We are planning to increase our services and products to be of great help to our clients.”
