Seminar discusses probiotics and vaginal health

Probiotics aren’t just good for your stomach but can also play a crucial role in vaginal health, according to microbial sciences expert Dr. Gregor Reid.

New Origin, which is behind women’s Inner Flora Urex Probiotics, held a seminar on Tuesday to discuss the importance of probiotics for women. New Origin is operated by Yuhan Care, a subsidiary of Yuhan.

Dr. Reid gave a speech at the event held at the Conrad Seoul Hotel in Yeouido, westen Seoul, on Tuesday.

“Vaginal health affects the cervix, uterus, bladder and perineum,” said Reid. “Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1 and Lactobacillus reuteri RC-14, which are by far the most documented probiotics for women in the world, can prevent urinary and vaginal infections, improve their cure and provide immune and detoxification effects in the host.”

The probiotics market in Korea is rapidly growing to be in the top three globally in terms of growth, according to researcher Han Eun-jung from Yuhan Care.

“Despite the sluggish economy, the health food market has grown,” Han said. “The entrance of the aging society has also affected demand. We have confirmed the need for vaginal health.”
