JYP Entertainment will begin holding auditions on Jan. 4 in Busan, followed by Daegu on Jan. 5, Gwangju on Jan. 11, Daejeon on Jan. 12 and Seoul from Jan. 17 to 19 to find its 16th batch of trainees for the agency.
“The JYP audition series is the most recognized method of stepping into the entertainment industry,” the agency said.
Jeongyeon and Nayeon of Twice, JB and Jinyoung of GOT7 and Seungmin of Stray Kids are examples of JYP artists picked up through the audition process.
Anyone born between the years 1998 and 2009 can choose from vocal, rap, dance, modeling and acting and apply through the agency’s website.
Songwriters can also apply for a spot at JYP Publishing, JYP Entertainment’s music publishing company founded by Park Jin-young.
JYP Publishing is currently home to Hong Ji-sang, who penned Wonder Girls’ “Why So Lonely” (2016); Shim Eun-ji, writer of Twice’s “YES or YES” (2018); collapsedone and Armadillo.
“This audition will be for writers who can create songs for JYP’s artists such as GOT7, Twice, Stray Kids and ITZY,” the agency said.
Applications will be accepted from Dec. 9 to Jan. 17. Contenders must submit two songs, complete with both melody and lyrics.
