Hyundai Motor donates 25 billion won to Community Chest

Hyundai Motor Group has donated 25 billion won ($21 million) to non-profit charity organization Community Chest of Korea as a contribution to help vulnerable members of society and ease social segregation.

The donation ceremony held Monday in Jung District, central Seoul, was attended by Chairman Yeo Jong-suk and Secretary General Kim Yeon-soon of the Community Chest of Korea, along with Hyundai Motor Group President Kong Young-woon.

As a part of its corporate social responsibility drive, the Korean automaker said it has donated a total of 284 billion won over the past 17 years since making the first year-end donation in 2003. The automaker has been making 25-billion-won donations every year since 2013.

The donated funds will be used to support economic independence of low income earners and provide living expenses and transportation for children and the elderly, Hyundai Motor Group said.
