S-Oil grants awards for Ph.D research to 10 groups

S-Oil awarded a total of 115 million won to fund studies in science, math and technology for 10 Korean Ph.D researchers and their professors, on Tuesday.

Every year, the Korean Academy of Science and Technology and the Korean Association of Private University Presidents select 10 academic papers in math, physics, chemistry, biology, science and engineering, sponsored by S-Oil. This year, 10 teams of Ph.D researchers and their professors received awards-15 million won for the top five and 8 million won for the remaining top 10. Winners were from Seoul National University, KAIST, Korea Institute for Advanced Study and Pukyong National University.

For the first time this year, S-Oil selected a new group of science and engineering researchers aged under 45. This group was given a total of 240 million won as research funding.
