Wibee’s head coach Wie picks up 200th win in WKBL

The Asan Woori Bank Wibee head coach Wie Sung-woo has become the first-ever head coach in the Women’s Korean Basketball League (WKBL) history to pick up 200 wins.

During the Wibee’s game against the Bucheon KEB Hana Bank in Asan on Wednesday, the team defeated Hana Bank 76-72. Park Hye-jin led the Wibee by scoring 24 points, and with the win, the club is now tied for the lead with Cheongju KB Stars at 10 wins and two losses, as of Wednesday.

Up until the 2017-18 season, Wibee were the most dominant team in the WKBL as they’ve won six straight championship and regular season titles. However, their streak was ended last season by the Stars.

Wie took the helm of the Wibee in April 2012, and throughout his term, he has now picked up 200 wins and 50 losses.

“The players achieved the record for me,” Wie said. “I just took it.”
