Originally, the sixth-ranked Jung was scheduled to compete against second-ranked Brian Ortega of the United States, but due to a knee injury he will compete instead against fourth-ranked Edgar.
“Since June, I’ve been asking UFC president Dana White to host a fight in Korea,” Jung said. “When I heard about Ortega’s injury, I seriously considered giving up on the fight, but since I didn’t want to ruin the match that I’ve requested, I accepted a match against Edgar.”
UFC Fight Night 165 starts at 7 p.m., and Jung will be the first match of the night. Jung enters the bout with a record of 15 wins and five losses, while Edgar has a record of 23 wins, seven losses and a draw.
Aside from Jung, four other Korean UFC fighters will compete at Sajik. Choi Doo-ho will compete against Charles Jourdain of Canada in the featherweight division while Jung Da-un will compete against Mike Rodriguez of the United States in light heavyweight division.
Then, in the middleweight division, Park Jun-yong will compete against Marc-Andre Barriault of Canada. Kang Kyung-ho will compete in the bantamweight division against Pingyuan Liu of China.
