The Bears said Alcantara agreed to a one-year contract at $700,000. With the signing, Alcantara will be returning to the KBO next season.
Looking at his 2019 season, Alcantara started in 27 games for the Wiz. He picked up 11 wins and 11 losses with a 4.01 ERA. Throughout the 2019 season, Alcantara tossed 172 and two thirds of an inning.
By signing Alcantara, the Bears fulfilled the two foreign player quota available for pitchers for the 2020 season. Before signing Alcantara, the Bears signed Chris Flexen at $1 million.
The Bears are currently in negotiation with its foreign fielder Jose Fernandez, as well as other potential candidates to fill one other spot allocated for a non-pitching foreign player.
