Lee Min-woo cleared of allegations

Lee Min-woo, member of boy band Shinhwa, was cleared of allegations that he sexually assaulted two women in June, his agency announced Tuesday.

“The investigations into Lee ended recently,” Lee’s agency Liveworks Company posted on its Twitter account on Tuesday morning. “He was found to be innocent. We apologize for causing fans troubles.”

Lee was accused of assaulting two women in their 20s while he was drinking with his friends and coworkers at a bar in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, in June.

One of the women went to a police precinct in the vicinity that night to report Lee for “grabbing both sides of her face and kissing her” against her will.

When police questioned Lee, he told them that he had done it as an expression of his friendly affection and nothing more.

Police checked the CCTV camera footage of the bar of that evening and requested the prosecution to indict him for sexual assault.

The prosecution did not find incriminating evidence against Lee, according to the agency’s announcement Tuesday.

Lee debuted as one of six members of Shinhwa in 1998. He remains in the group, but in 2003, he debuted as a solo artist.
