Gwangju is funding 11 local films

Along with the Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency, the city will fund 11 selected film productions - three feature films and eight short films - with a total of 1.2 billion won ($1 million).
The genres of the films will vary accordingly, from commercial films to documentaries and musicals.
One film that many peek public interest is a feature film titled “Vengeful Ridge” (literal translation) by director Lee Jung-gook, which is about an ex-soldier from Republic of Korea Army Special Warfare Command (ROK-SWC) suffering from the guilt of his past deeds wanting to redeem himself through taking revenge on a victim from the uprising. A veteran cast of Ahn Sung-ki, Yoon Yoo-sun, and Park Geun-hyung feature in the film.
Eight short films will introduce different perspectives of the movement by directors active in cities such as Seoul; Changwon, South Gyeongsang; Jeonju, North Jeolla; and Chuncheon, Gangwon.
