IZ*ONE to make return in February
Girl group IZ*ONE, the project band that made its debut through the third season of the music audition program “Produce 101,” will resume its scheduled activities next month, cable channel Mnet said on Thursday.
“We thank everyone who has been waiting for IZ*ONE,” the channel said.
“We have decided to respect the wishes of the members of IZ*ONE and the fans, who have been waiting for the group to come back.”
The announcement came after CJ ENM - the entertainment conglomerate that runs Mnet - halted the group’s activities last year when the producers of “Produce” were found to have rigged fan votes during its shows.
IZ*ONE had announced the release of an album in November but canceled both the release and a scheduled showcase. The group has not made any official appearances since.
Boy band X1, the project band from the fourth season of the show, disbanded earlier this month.
“IZ*ONE will make its return in February. We will release additional details in the coming days,” the channel said.
