The distribution rights for the local horror film “The Closet” were sold to 56 regions, according to the film distribution company CJ Entertainment.
“The Closet,” which is scheduled to hit local theaters next month, is about a father, played by Ha Jung-woo, attempting to find his daughter who went missing in their new home. He enlists the help of a freelance exorcist, who is played by Kim Nam-gil.
The film will be released in the North American box office, then Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
“Not only does [the film] stimulate fear using an everyday object such as the closet, but overseas buyers are interested in the fact that Ha and Kim took the lead roles, who possess a wide fandom,” said Choi Yoon-hee, the director of the film’s foreign distribution rights.
