Baek Ye-rin takes home 3 KMAs

Singer-songwriter Baek Ye-rin received three trophies at the Korean Music Awards on Thursday.

The selection committee announced the winner on the award show’s official website on Thursday, and Baek was awarded Album of the Year (Grand Prize) and Best Pop Album for her “Our Love is Great” album released last March and Best Pop Song for her “Maybe It’s Not Our Fault.”

“Baek’s ‘Our Love is Great’ is an album that many of us felt has healed listeners,” the committee said in its statement. “We assessed the album as a statement from the artist announcing that this is just a beginning.”

Indie rock band Jannabi took home Song of the Year (Grand Prize) and Best Modern Rock Song for its “For Lovers Who Hesitate.” The band took home similar awards at the Golden Disc Awards and Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Saxophone player and musician Kim Oki also took home the Best Jazz & Crossover Album award for his “Spirit Advance Unit.”

The Korean Music Awards is an independent music award show that focuses on both mainstream and genre music by Korean artists. It has been held annually since 2004.

Instead of hosting a ceremony, the committee decided to announce the winners online due to the coronavirus outbreak.
