‘Baby Shark Dance’ is now the second most-viewed YouTube clip
The English version of “Baby Shark Dance” by local educational start-up SmartStudy is now the second most-viewed video on YouTube, the company announced on Monday.
As of Monday morning, the clip has over 4.6 billion views.
The clip was created through the company’s children’s education entertainment brand Pinkfong and was uploaded on June 17, 2016. In the video, two children introduce a family of sharks and dance along to the simple lyrics of the song.
In 2019, the song reached 32nd on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the album “Pinkfong Presents: The Best of Baby Shark” ranked 100th on the Billboard 200.
Meanwhile, the most-viewed video on YouTube is the music video for “Despacito” by the singer Luis Fonsi featuring rapper Daddy Yankee. Released on Jan. 12, 2017, the video currently has over 6.6 billion views.
Ed Sheeran’s music video for “Shape of You” slid down to third place.
