The sequel of the controversial MBC documentary “Meeting You” last month aired on Thursday evening.
The first part of the documentary, titled “Meeting You,” aired on Feb. 6 and brought Jang Ji-sung together with her daughter Kang Na-yeon who passed away in 2016 at the age of just 7 after being diagnosed with a rare disease. Kang was recreated through computer graphics and virtual reality (VR).
“The sequel is a behind-the-scenes story of the documentary,” the JoongAng Ilbo reported on Thursday. “It wasn’t an easy decision by Jang to choose to meet her deceased daughter again through VR and on a documentary. The sequel will shed more light on Jang and her family and what they went through after meeting Na-yeon again through VR.”
A clip from the documentary uploaded on YouTube last month has attracted over 18 million views and mixed reactions to the idea of recreating a deceased person through virtual reality.
