BTS is recognized at IFPI Global Album Charts 2019
According to the chart revealed by the IFPI on Thursday in the United States, BTS’s music received critical acclaim for its “confident, genre-spanning sound.”
“Persona” was released in April last year. It had the group’s biggest hit of the year, “Boy With Luv,” which was recorded with singer Halsey.
This is the second recognition from the IFPI, following last year’s announcement that “Love Yourself: Answer” (2018) and “Love Yourself: Tear” (2018) were second and third on the chart, respectively.
The IFPI’s Global Album Chart rates both physical and digital album sales of international releases, as well as digital downloads, and lists them every year.
This year’s No. 1 went to Japanese band Arashi’s “5x20 All the BEST!! 1999-2019.” The band was noted for its “incredibly strong catalogue and career longevity.”
Following Arashi was Taylor Swift’s “Lover,” BTS’s “Persona,” Lady Gaga’s “A Star is Born,” Billie Eilish’s “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” and Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
Last month, BTS was on the IFPI’s global artist top 10 chart.
