Returning from a restaurant that went out of business, a business owner loads kitchenware including pots, pans and fryers in front of his store on Tuesday.

His store in Hwanghak-dong, Jongno, central Seoul, refurbishes secondhand kitchenware.

As the coronavirus outbreak continues, many small businesses have been closing shops.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government,1,600 food-related businesses including restaurant and coffee shops have gone out of business in the first 20 days of this month.

That’s a 9 percent increase, or 132 stores more, from the same period a year ago. [YONHAP]
