CJ 4DPlex wins gold at Edison Awards for ScreenX theaters

CJ CGV subsidiary CJ 4DPlex won a gold medal at the 2020 Edison Awards Wednesday in New York City, the multiplex chain said Monday.

The company’s ScreenX theaters were awarded the top honors under the award category of media and visual communication - entertainment.

ScreenX is the world’s first multi-projection theater technology, first launched in 2012 at the chain’s Cheongdam Cinecity branch in southern Seoul. The technology is deployed on 326 screens in 25 countries, including the United States, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Turkey, Japan and France.

The Edison Awards, named after renowned American inventor Thomas Edison, have annually honored excellence in innovative technology in products, services, marketing and design since 1987.

CJ 4DPlex previously won silver awards in the same category in 2015 and 2018, for its 4DX and 4DX Screen theaters.
