Humedix will supply antigen test kits that could identify patients with coronavirus in just 15 to 20 minutes.

Humedix made a partnership with Bionote, a company that specializes in developing coronavirus test kits, and obtained the rights to sell the test kits overseas.

When the coronavirus infiltrates the human body, antigens initially trigger the immune system, and after a while, antibodies start to emerge. Therefore, previous test kits which relied on the antibodies to identify coronavirus had difficulties identifying patients who were in the early stages. However, this new kit will be able to confirm those patients quickly and accurately without the help of any other devices.

Humedix hopes that this antigen test kit will play a pivotal role in curbing the spread of the coronavirus and prevent further transmissions in the local communities.

The company plans to provide the kits to countries which are suffering severely due to the lack of medical infrastructure to help them effectively deal with the virus outbreak.

“There are only a few companies in the world which have both antigen and antibody test kits,” said Kim Jin-hwan, CEO of the Humedix. “Humedix now owns rights for selling both kinds of test kits overseas and a quick supply of these kits will play a key role in helping the world overcome the crisis.”

Humedix has been expanding their presence regarding the coronavirus test kits globally. In May, the company succeeded in gaining export permits from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and received a CE mark from the European Union. It is currently discussing with 20 different countries about obtaining certifications and has already made a deal with Ecuador and some countries in Asia and Europe for supplying the kits.

Huons, an affiliated company of Humedix, completed gaining official permits of exporting RT-PCR test kits from countries such as Italy and Brazil. It plans to supply them in a large scale in the near future.
