Coupang to reopen Bucheon distribution center
E-commerce operator Coupang is reopening its Bucheon distribution center in Gyeonggi on Thursday, a month after a Covid-19 outbreak caused the center to shut its doors in late May.
The distribution center, where more than 3,500 people work, was shut down on May 25 after three employees were confirmed to have tested positive for the coronavirus.
The facility in Bucheon handles deliveries to the metropolitan area and western Seoul.
Coupang had to shut down distribution centers in Goyang and Deokpyeong in Gyeonggi for the same reason, but both have reopened.
Coupang said Wednesday it has rolled out a campaign designed to expand the distance between employees at its distribution centers to minimize contact.
It said it doubled the number of buses the company operates for commuters and has set up acrylic partitions at its catering facilities.
