New BTS single will drop next month

BTS [BIG HIT ENTERTAINMENT]

BTS [BIG HIT ENTERTAINMENT]

BTS will drop a new single on Aug. 21, as a gift to fans around the world coping with difficulties brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

The band’s agency Big Hit Entertainment announced the new single through the agency’s fan community service Weverse and the band’s official Twitter account, as well as a radio broadcast through Naver V Live.

“We are pleased to announce the news of a single we’ve been making for ARMY,” the band stated in a Monday press release, referring to the BTS fan club.

“We are looking at the end of this year for our album, but we decided to release the single a little earlier because we wanted to show it to you so much. The world is going through tough times as Covid-19 persists, and we wanted to cheer you up.”

BTS described the song as “energetic,” and explained that it will be yet another English-lyric song like “MIC Drop” (2017) or “Waste It On Me” (2018).

The title of the song has not been revealed.

“We needed a breakthrough in a situation that we had not anticipated, which is how this song came about. I think this will be a fresh challenge for us,” said BTS.

“We felt really good and filled with energy while we were recording this song. We can’t wait [for you] to share this feeling with us and enjoy this song together.”

BTS released its fourth full-length album “Map of the Soul: 7” in February, and broke its own record by topping Billboard’s 200 albums chart for the fourth time, as well as peaking at No. 4 on the Hot 100 singles chart – the highest ever for any Korean band.
