Boxes of fruits and vegetable for sale at a discount supermarket in Seoul on Monday. Prices of fruits and vegetables are spiking as many farms have been damaged by the recent heavy downpours. This month, the wholesale price of Nappa cabbages surged 84 percent compared to a year ago, while squash prices went up 73 percent. The government last week announced that it will release its stockpile in trying to lower the surging fresh produce prices. [YONHAP]
