While online concerts first started as a means for K-pop acts to perform concerts during the coronavirus, the realm may also be the most effective means to meet fans around the world, as proven by girl group Twice’s first online concert “Beyond LIVE – Twice: World in A Day” held on Sunday through Naver V Live.

코로나바이러스로 인해 콘서트를 개최하지 못하게 된 K팝 아티스트들에게 온라인 콘서트는 공연을 하기 위한 대체제로 시작했지만, 이는 전세계 팬들을 만나는 가장 효율적인 방법이 될 수 있다는 것을 걸그룹 트와이스가 네이버 V 라이브를 통해 일요일에 열린 첫 온라인 콘서트 “비욘드 라이브 - 트와이스 : 월드 인 어 데이”를 통해 증명했다.

Twice’s concert was not only the group’s first online concert, but also the first time for a band outside of SM Entertainment to perform under the Beyond LIVE franchise.

이번 콘서트는 트와이스의 첫 온라인 콘서트일 뿐만 아니라, SM 엔터테인먼트 소속 가수 외 가수가 처음으로 Beyond LIVE 콘서트를 개최한 첫 사례이기도 하다.

Twice’s agency JYP Entertainment and SM Entertainment announced earlier this month that the two have joined forces to establish the Beyond LIVE Corporation to further develop the brand internationally using the best of each agency’s talents.

트와이스 소속사 JYP 엔터테인먼트와 SM 엔터테인먼트는 이번 달 초 온라인 콘서트 전문 회사 비욘드 라이브 코퍼레이션을 설립하고 두 회사의 장점을 살려 글로벌 온라인 콘서트의 브랜드 성장을 이끈다고 발표한 바 있다.

Twice’s “World in A Day” was held under the concept of traveling the world in a day via an online tour, where the stage was themed around 16 cities across the world and the songs were rearranged to match the vibe of the different cities, from Seoul to Bangkok, Manila and Singapore to Los Angeles, New York and Chicago.

트와이스의 “World in A Day” 콘서트는 온라인으로 전세계를 투어하는 콘셉트로 이뤄졌다. 무대는 각각 16개의 다른 도시를 테마로 꾸며졌는데, 그 때마다 선보이는 노래도 서울, 방콕, 마닐라, 싱가폴, 로스앤젤레스, 뉴욕과 시카도 등의 각 도시의 분위기에 맞게 리메이크됐다.

Keeping true to the theme, thousands of fans from 126 countries around the world joined in to watch the concert, paying a minimum of 33,000 won ($28) per ticket.

실제 테마에 걸맞게 전세계 126개국에서 시청자가 콘서트를 관람했으며, 티켓은 최소 33,000원이었다.

Twice kicked off the concert dressed as funky pilots for the track “Stuck in My Head” (2019), “to visualize the theme of flying across the world” for fan club Once, according to members.

트와이스는 “전세계를 투어하는 컨셉을 시각적으로 표현하기 위한” 파일럿 컨셉의 의상을 입고 콘서트를 시작하며 “Stuck in My Head” (2019)를 선보였다.

Some of the band’s biggest hits were performed, including “Fancy” (2019), “Heart Shaker” (2017), “TT” (2016), “What is Love?” (2018) and “Yes or Yes” (2018), as well as the latest release “More & More” that came out in June this year.

“We get to see Once around the world in one day today,” said Chaeyoung.

멤버 채영은 “오늘 전세계 원스를 하루 안에 다 볼 수 있어요”라고 말했다.

“We were looking forward to this concert so much, and this is finally it,” said Nayeon. “We can see Once [on the screen] in front of us and we can hear you cheer. This is amazing!”

멤버 나연은 “오늘 콘서트를 너무나 기대했는데, 드디어 오늘”이라며 “[스크린으로] 원스를 다 볼 수 있고 응원하는 목소리를 들을 수 있네요. 굉장해요”라고 소감을 전했다.
