Coupang shut its headquarters in Jamsil, southern Seoul, on Monday after an employee tested positive for Covid-19.
The e-commerce operator announced Monday that the infected employee hadn't visited the office since Aug. 14.
The employee was tested on Sunday and received a positive result on Monday.
Coupang immediately shut its headquarters and made all of its employees leave the building.
Coupang had already raised the proportion of its employees working at home from 50 percent to 75 percent after the recent spike in Covid-19 cases.
On Monday, a group of employees demanded Coupang apologize for failing to respond properly after some of the workers at a distribution center in Bucheon, Gyeonggi, tested positive in May. They argued they were not properly informed about the patients having worked at the distribution center and demanded compensation.
