Red ginseng is an outcome of the traditional steaming and drying process of regular ginseng. These procedures add various characteristics to red ginseng. Since the steaming and drying processes require painstaking manual labor and a particular set of skills, red ginseng is usually more expensive than other mass-produced health supplements such as vitamin tablets.
Among Korea’s approximately 2 trillion ($1.7 billion) ginseng market, CheongKwanJang has a market share of around 70 percent. And one of the most popular red ginseng products in Korea is CheongKwanJang’s red ginseng extract in stick pouches, “EveryTime.” Containing nothing but six-year-old red ginseng extract and purified water, EveryTime was the first red ginseng extract product to come in a pouch. EveryTime is currently sold around the globe including in the United States, China and Japan.
