A recent Realmeter survey on the popularity of presidential hopefuls showed Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl at 17.2 percent and ruling Democratic Party (DP) Chairman Lee Nak-yon and Gyeonggi Gov. Lee Jae-myung both at 21.5 percent. Analysts attribute the dramatic rise in Yoon’s popularity to voters’ increasing support for the chief prosecutor in a tough battle with Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae over prosecution reforms.
