Chosun University, located in South Jeolla, concluded Wednesday that trot singer Hong Jin-young’s master’s dissertation paper is “plagiarized” and said that it will take administrative actions to revoke her degrees.

The university also added that it will “enhance the accountability of its professors who are given the responsibility of guiding and supervising [candidates] in relation to plagiarizing and systematically operate its research ethics.”

In November, Hong came under fire when it was revealed that her master's dissertation titled "Study on the cultural content industry through Hallyu" that she wrote 11 years ago scored a 74 percent plagiarism rating on the plagiarism review website CopyKiller. Hong had received a Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Chosun University.

Following the allegations, Hong was taken off many of the television programs she was featured in, including “My Little Old Boy” on SBS.
