[Living Tradition] Returning treasure

Yojiyeondo is a 50-meter-long, 19th-century eight-panel folding screen depicting an ancient legend of a banquet of Seowangmo, or the Queen mother of the West, with immortals arriving at her palace.
The Cultural Heritage Administration recently purchased it from a U.S. auction, and managed to bring it back to its homeland.
According to the administration, the folding screen was taken outside the country by an American soldier who was stationed in Korea 50 years ago. The folding screen will be exhibited at the National Palace Museum of Korea.
