The Korea Volleyball Association indefinitely banned twins Lee Jae-young and Lee Da-young, star players of the Heungkuk Life Insurance Pink Spiders, from the national volleyball team.

indefinitely: 무기한으로

대한배구협회는 흥국생명 핑크스파이더스 쌍둥이 스타 배구선수 이재영·이다영에 대해 국가대표 자격을 무기한 박탈했다.

"It is with a heavy sense of responsibility that we made the decision," a spokesperson for the association told Yonhap News on Monday. The Pink Spiders also indefinitely suspended the twins Monday.

responsibility: 책임감

배구협회 대변인은 월요일 “엄중한 책임감으로 [국가대표 자격 무기한 박탈] 결정을 내렸다”고 월요일 연합뉴스에 말했다. 핑크스파이더스도 월요일 쌍둥이에 대해 무기한 출전 정지를 내렸다.

Fans of the V league have had an exciting 2020-21 season, with the Pink Spiders having the three best players in the league: The Lee twins and Kim Yeon-koung, generally considered to be the greatest player in the league's history.

핑크스파이더스에 이재영 이다영 자매와 V 리그 역대 최고로 평가 받는 김연경 선수 등 스타 배구선수 3명이 함께 경기하고 있어서 V 리그 팬들은 흥미진진한 2020-21 시즌을 보냈다.

The three were expected to make it to the national team and play in the Tokyo Olympics in July. And then the twins' bullying scandal started snowballing.

이들 세 배구 선수들은 국가대표로 선발돼 7월 도쿄올림픽에 출전할 것으로 예상됐었다. 그런데 쌍둥이 자매의 학교 폭력 논란이 커지기 시작했다.

A former teammate of the twins in middle school complained online on Feb. 10 about being bullied. The post listed 21 allegations of bullying, including being threatened with a knife. She said there were at least three more victims bullied by the same perpetrators.

쌍둥이 자매의 중학교 시절 동료 선수가 2월 10일 온라인에 자매의 학교 폭력에 시달렸다고 폭로했다. 칼로 협박받는 등 21가지 학교 폭력 혐의를 나열했다. 같은 가해자의 학교 폭력에 시달린 피해자는 최소 3명 더 있다고 주장했다.

Although the victim didn't name the twins, volleyball fans pieced together clues from information she posted, such as a photo of the yearbook of the middle school the victim attended.

피해자는 쌍둥이 자매의 이름을 밝히지 않았지만, 배구 팬들은 피해자가 재학했던 중학교 졸업앨범 사진 등 피해자가 밝힌 정보에서 단서들을 찾아 조각을 맞춰서 가해자를 지목했다.
