The monthly art magazine Public Art and the municipal museum Daecheong Ho Museum of Art started the “Public Art New Hero” exhibition on Tuesday at the museum located in Cheongju city, North Chungcheong.

The exhibition features 21 artists who have been designated the “New Heroes” of Korean art by the magazine over the past three years and four artists based in Chungcheong who have been selected by the museum.

Since 2007, the magazine has invited artists aged 20 or older regardless of their nationality, academic background or career to an annual open competition and has featured the selected artists as “New Heroes” in its in-depth articles and exhibitions. A total of 131 “New Heroes” have been designated over the last 14 years.

Participating artists in this year’s exhibition include performance and video artist Koo Soohyun, painter Lim Nosik and installation artist Jeon Juyeon. The exhibition runs through April 11.
